Because all Trump wanted was sell more expensive US gas. Liquid gas for which Germany had no possibility to take even if they wanted to.

@InTeCredo No, what's so ironic is that the South needs to import wind energy from the North but has protested against the power lines for it. But the real ironic thing is that Germany has to burn gas to bring electricity to France whose nuclear reactors had to be shut down for month because of A) safety problems B) heat/draught. Turns out if rivers have no water, you can't cool nuclear reactors.

@ryderdyder1752 Yeah, as I was saying, the gas was more expensive, because there was no tranportation - and even if there would have been, it's more expensive to liquify and transport the stuff on a ship insead of just pressing it through a tube. That's why pipelines are used whenever possible even for oil that you don't have to liquify and handle extra carefully.

True. They are the sefacst ever. But still not save and one big bang could kill millions of people and making a whole small country uninhabitable. In Fukushima we very very close avioded reactor 3 exploding. The one with Polonium. If that had exploded and wind would have been in the major direction, the stuff would have come down on the Tokyo area. The whole 30-40 million plain would have been needed to avacuate, without taking anything because a grain of polonium too small to even see can kill you. I can't see that working in any way. And with the wind as it was in reality, it would have splitted Japan in 2 halves, with a 100km or so wide area where no one would be allowed to enter, not to mention to live. But even putting the radioactive dangers aside, modern nuclear power plants may be the safest, but also the most expensive. That is why not even power companies want to build them. You can have solar electricity for 3-6 cent in Germany and wind for 6-8 cent (Likely to continue going down). Nuclear is somewhere in the 2 digits, rising. Oh, and that is if you can actually run nuclear. Have you heard that Germany had to burn gas to produce electricity for France because their reactors were down because of A) costly unplanned maintenance B) heat. Turn out if rivers no longer have water, you have nothing to cool the nuclear reactors with. Btw. have you heard of "climate change"?

@aleksaskela25 Take into account that Gazprom didn't even exist at the time of the biggest anti-nuclear protests and also take into account that nuclear can't be made safe and is more expensive than regeneratives, and you know why so many people prefer green.

@aleksaskela25 It works so fine that not even half of the theoretical capacity was there in teh summer... And no, it can't be made safe anywhere on earth for the amount of safe I would like to see something that could kill millions of people.
