@GameFuMaster Most Japanese don't know for 100% of they will remain in Japan for the rest of their life. Your argument is nonsense. If you pay taxes, you shoudl also have a say in how these taes are used. No taxation without representation, right? Not to mention that moving to a different country every few years might be because of the job or simply life style, it doesn't mean you are less investet. Often it's the opposite.

@GameFuMaster If you live there and your dividends are higher than a 40h minimum wage job income, then yes. Just as an example. You could of course say dividends don't count because dividends are not work/local income. (Don't forget the discussion in Japan is mostly about municipal elections, not necessarily the country wide ones.)

@GameFuMaster No, I am saying voting rights should be based on where you live (which is most easily defined on where you pay taxes). But I was referencing to the arguments in the video.

If you pay taxes in X, you should have a right to vote in X, to decide how your taxes are used. Or as the Americans put it ages ago: No taxation without representation.
