I live in Indian Subcontinent. The long hour (80-100hr/week or more), political intervention, tough assessment for bonuses are all too familiar to me. "Why would the company give u a promotion/bonus?" just think about your CEO openly declaring that on a company conference. My interest to take initiative instantly died when I heard that a few years ago. Maybe not that bad, but similar environment is common in India, China and all the "most rapidly growing" economies of Asia. This is why I believe none of them will never be able to go ahead of the west until the west itself falters.

Hans Otto Kroeger Kaethler N. Korea didn't achieve Nuclear capability at all. Those nukes came directly from China or USSR. This is a common theme, whenever a 3rd world nation achieves such capability overnight, it's because they didn't, the tech came straight from some 1st world nation. This is even true for nations like India and Pakistan, who has far stronger economy and way superior pool of talented human resources. Yet they had to achieve the tech through decade long diplomacy and build the nukes piece by piece over that long stretch of time.

@dalriada842 If the west is going down, then it's because of their demographics. Also, woke and nothing to do with globalist. Just because you dislike both doesn't mean one stems from another or are actually "problems". The "woke culture" is just a BS for the masses, and globalist ideology stems simply from the fact that the west already has too little working age citizen to keep the economy running and thus can't even survive let alone dominate if they don't outsource their work and import talented and/or hardworking young immigrants simultaneously.

@leezhieng There's nothing racist here. US built world's 1st nuke with a foundation of 150 years of industrialization. When India started building their Nuke, they had to go through ~2 decades of political and technological catch up, even then it's ostensibly a technology transfer - from more than one superpower. Why ud things be any different for N Korea? On top of that, India has a very healthy economy and a quite modern higher education system. India's diplomacy was also strong - imagine what it takes to be in good terms with both USA and USSR at the height of the Cold War. N Korea lacks all of those. It's never about their biology, but I don't think the state has achieved any such capability. About the sanction - well, those things are mostly to maintain monopoly and not to prevent proliferation, aren't they?

@xboxstudent First off, I'm not an Indian, neither is Pakistani. Second, yes, China and also South-East Asia is way ahead of our entire region. But not N. Korea. Just find me a Uni in N. Korea that matches IIT, India, I won't even ask about N. Korea's economy. Lastly, don't delude yourself that except for the GDP figures, China, India or anyone here will ever surpass the west in any near future. China is technologically catching up pretty fast, but just remember US/Europe are still the one who make the trend - AI, space exploration, stem cell, nanotech or whatever, all are their brainchild, no matter what we're achieving in these.

Except Iran, Turkey, Iraq (under Saddam), Libya (under Gaddafi), Syria (under Asad Sr.) all are far more capable countries with way more diplomatic ties than NK, all of them failed to gain nuclear capability, despite many desperate attempts. Don't trust me, go check their GDP, ranking of their Uni, their political history of recent time etc. What are the chances that NK with far weaker economy and human resource will succeed? No gut feelings, formal Bayesian analysis will show that there's very little chance. The disclosed info about how India and Pakistan gained this capability show the Everest high hurdles. So better try to know about those, instead of shouting irrelevant quotes.
