  1. Yeah, but only for the PR. In reality, the US was salivating for the large cheap labor supply of China. Before US companies started widespread outsourcing to Chinese factories, there were only a handful of billionaires in the US. Now 40 yrs into it, US has thousands and most of the top 50 riches person on Earth. Of course, China too was salivating to US money, as they too have gained a thousand or so billionaire.
