Jonathan Well 1 needs to happen if 2 does, or people will revolt. And capitalism will collapse with no consumer purchasing power.

Dheeraj Basic rights change over time as technology and societies change. Not long ago there was no concept of universal health care. Now most of the top developed countries have it. People said the same thing you asked. But you must think through the economics to see why guaranteed minimum income must happen. 1) Business is motivated to maximize profit made from sales of goods and services. 2) The bulk of sales are to consumers, and consumers need income to buy these things. 3) AI will displace workers because the cost of goods sold will be lower and thus profits increase. 4) Companies who move to AI the soonest will make the most money. Those doing so later will have shrinking markets. 5) Eventually economies must collapse because no one can afford to buy anything. 6) At some point the unemployed masses will rise up to demand food, water, shelter, etc. 7) Guaranteed minimum income will be the most direct and expedient solution.

Jonathan Lebon Gosh I have to cop out about how I would fix the problems inherent in the AI revolution. I don't really know. But we know that generally speaking, social and political structures follow changes in production, sometimes with a lot of suffering. I hope we can minimize the suffering that comes from this change. What do you think? The only thing that seems clear is that if AI takes the place of workers, eventually at every level, then either AI will buy the fruits of their own efforts (which doesn't make a lot of sense) or people will need a guaranteed income that allows them to continue buying - and living.
