I hear no historical error in his presentation So are you saying you are in favor of social injustice?

This is a brilliant idea. It can be distributed world wide at very little cost to present a more complete and balanced history and presentation of current affairs. Hearing somoe of the Democratic presidential candidates talking about systemic discrimination and oppression suggests things are slowl moving forward . And this augmented reality can work in support.

@jordancarlson9071 I believe you take him too literally. Columbus is one example, one he can develop into a theme that is representative of the larger context. Of course he is aware of the global and historical status of slavery YOu raise a strawman if you want to suggest he proposes Columbus originated slavery in the Americas.

@Matt M Social Justice is a poison to those of privilage. Consider that several Democratic presidential candidates are raising social justice issues and you will see that it is not just some ephemeral pipe dream There is substance to it. Now i agree you might have legit issues with how problems are addressed. But the problems can no longer be denied.

@geoffmcclelland2663 It's actually "Genocide, slavery and patriarchy" that he lists. You are right that he unfortunately leaves open an interpretation that Columbus started all that in the hemisphere, by leaving out the "white" modifier. It is implicit from what precedes this list. When you include it then he is saying Columbus started the western, white man processes.. And that would be true. He should have made it explicit. We could have avoided all this churning and focused on the main message. . Actually as a side note, it might not be true. We know know the Vikings were in N. America. They had a slave owning culture. They made slaves of the native they found in Greenland, so why wouldn't they in Vineland? But this settlement did not take So it's only of academic interest.

@jordancarlson9071 Thank you for this Jordan. While i would not say that "lack of favoritism" means one is a racist, I have to pause to think about that characterization. I think it comes down to whether there can be equal opportunity when all parties do not start on a level playing field. But then the hard part is what to do. Going back to the OP, I think it is unfortunate that the speaker did not make explicit that Columbus started western white male slavery, genocide, patriarchy It was implicit from the preceding context. This is made clear when he returns to the topic of statues, specifically the one of Columbus. But this literary moment is fraught with risk because of the sensitive topic Way too many people missed the conbstruction and the point. That is never good writing.
