  1. Meanwhile 36% of U.S. households do not have access to broadband. Yes, they use modems on a phone line, not even 56K. So don't go thinking the U.S. is all that. It's not. 15 years ago my city put in the infrastructure for cable TV and internet because no commercial provider would touch it. No profit or not enough margin; I don't recall. The city farmed out ISP provision to private companies. Now the other companies are flooding our mail boxes with offers under cost, playing China and Korea et al. Imagine that.
