“This election also will not be anything more than competitive populism”, yes truly well said.

Funny watching SG struggling to pronounce “kazhagam” . Yes, “zha” (ழ), unique to Tamil language, is really a tongue twister.

13.00 — this picture of Lord Muruga is of the deity at Batu Caves, Malaysia.

Waiting for quite some time for this episode. 2021 TN elections, without the two charismatic leaders, is sure to throw a few surprises. Also it is a do or die elections for both the major Dravidian parties.

AIADMK was never atheistic and Jayalalitha was openly religious. This difference sets apart AIADMK from DMK who still profess to be followers of Rationalist Periyar.

2.30 —- 👍🏾 for your candid admission of national media’s neglect of TN. With four southern states being a major contributor to the nation’s GDP and also in the forefront of economic and human development indicators, the North Indian media should run more South related stories.

“My religion is very forgiving” 👍🏾.

Sekarji, in your excellent capsule history of Dravidian parties, you failed to mention that it was DMK, who first started with a demand for a separate Dravidian State comprising the four southern States on the basis of their distinctive ethnic and linguistic features, later gave up their secessionist demand. You have to credit Annadurai for this.

@2sendil —displaying your secular credentials?
4
@2sendil — if architecture is the criterion Thanjavur Periya Koil would have been the choice. It is really astonishing how far you carry your secular agenda.
2
@2sendil — yes, I am just born you wise man😫. Please enlighten me where do you find that that the temple gopuram was chosen for its architecture rather than for its religiosity,
2
@2sendil — as if you will be converted? I thought we were having a decent discussion when you started questioning my knowledge and understanding. I still maintain that the blazon designed by Krishna Rao was chosen to represent the Hindu temples, famous in TN and not expressly for its architecture. Finally, how can a Hindu temple be secular. Can you tell me which text book has the info that the emblem was chosen for its architecture. Don’t mind going to school as it is never too late to learn. ,

@HK-mf1ve — yes. In Tamil they are ல, ள, ழ. To illustrate, கல் means stone; கள் is toddy; but ழ is on a different level and cannot be easily transliterated in English.

@brajeshsingh2391 — also it is a kind of socialism for all, like the recent Pongal dole of 2.5k which was distributed to all card holders irrespective of their economic status. You could see people drive in on their Toyotas, Hondas and collect without hesitation this small amount. The goodies have become over time indiscriminate and gone over the board. Don’t be surprised if a free 🚗 car is offered this time!

@brajeshsingh2391 — ruling party retaining power is an Himalayan task but politics is about surprises like the Bihar elections.
1
@brajeshsingh2391 — but the general perception and political opinion is otherwise. Still the elections are a few weeks away and the alliances are still in the making when we can take a call.

@VishwajitAnand1710 — junta or jantha?
1
@2sendil — that’s your prerogative. But 99.9 % will associate temple with only Hindu religion and only the hypocrites (mainly in a few political parties) will say that they do temple visit only for its historical and archaeological values. BTW there is no evidence to show that Krishna Rao chose the temple emblem for its architecture.

Agree with Sekarji that Sasikala will not have any impact as of now.
1
@MrHitchfan —- I didn’t say unique ONLY to Tamil language. In majority of the languages it is absent, even in Dravidian group tongues except in Malayalam. Many Tamils themselves say la for zha though the majority get it right. My point was that when some Tamilians themselves falter, it is more difficult for non Tamils.

@vaagai9808 — all parties practise caste based politics. They dare not field a candidate not belonging to the majority caste in a constituency.
1
@vi_gopinath — DMK particularly practices minority appeasement politics. They will openly participate in Muslim and Christian festivals but not even wish Hindus on their festivals. This is the recurrent complaint from BJP and AIADMK leaders.
