What do you mean ‘obscure’? You may not know them but both are great leaders. Periyar is instrumental in Dravidian parties coming to power and he is revered (like a God even though he denied the existence of God) even today as a great reformer. Charan Singh is a farmer leader who became PM.

@saravananb2184 — “reasonable impact”!? Is it reasonable or negligible as Periyar lives only in books and public speeches. Caste and casteism is rampant and temple going has gone through the roof.

@Deveshi.A. —-absolutely true. Even those who speak feverishly about Periyar’s ideals don’t follow any of his reformist agenda. On the contrary TN has become a totally superstitious and casteist society which Periyar tried his best to change.
