Many versions of the Bible specifically use the words globe, sphere, ball, and orb. The word firmament means sky or space, it does NOT mean dome. Never has, never will. The Bible tells you this, but you think it’s a joke. This is why literally all Christians disagree with too. Every single one of them.

  24. The earth isn’t perfectly spherical. There is a 0.3% different between the polar diameter and the equatorial diameter. Why would you expect to see a 0.3% difference? And Tyson was making a metaphor. The Earth has a slight bulge in the equatorial region, and because that bulge consists mostly just south of the equator means that the Earth indeed does have a slight pear shape. He was not being literal.
