  1. Custer split his command and put three of companies under the command of Major Marcus Reno and three were placed under the command of Captain Frederick Benteen. Custer planned an attack the next day but thinking his positon was spotted by the Indians and therefore compromised, he ordered an immediate attack on the village. Custer sent orders to Captain Bennteen: "Benteen. Come on, Big Village, Be quick, Bring packs. P.S. Bring Packs." But Benteen did not come. He stayed behind with Reno who was forced to withdraw after taking casualties and facing a larger force. Custer could have been saved! Another key factor: The Army had single shot rifles while the Indians had repeating rifles!!! Custer was simply overwhelmed. I don't think that made him dumb!

  2. This was mostly accuate. However, Audie Murphy began a second military career during the Korean War and was commissioned a captain in the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard. He wanted to see action but his unit was nver sent to Korea. He was promoted to the rank of major in 1956. In 1969, he became part of the U. S. Army Reserve retiring in 1969.  Audie Murphy was THE most decorated U.S. soldier of World War Two! And he was a natural born actor!
