  1. I remembef being young and 18 and starting to change oil at a small used Volvo dealer. One of the car models advertised 10k oil changes and their oil always came out disgustingly black and thick. I couldnt believe they advertised 10k. The oil caps were always covered in goo from solidified old oil too.

  2. I wouldn't do that with a modern engine though... Too much expensive things to go wrong for so little savings. If you dont own a vehicle for the long run then its all good... It probably won't affect you unless you get unlucky with a turbo failure or variable valve timing system blockage around the 100k mark. As a side note, if you drive all highway its not nearly as bad as 10k miles of around town, or god forbid inner city... The hour difference on the engine runtime is astronomical. Easily at least 4x the runtime over highway.
