  1. Never understood the logic of the Jupiter vaccum cleaner hypothesis. It's as likely to draw asteroids TOWARDS Earth if they were passing by on the opposite side of us to Jupiter, and while I can see how Jupiter might clear its side of the solar system, within a certain arc that's surely counterbalanced by all the asteroids that might otherwise have passed by entirely were it not for its gravity.
