Comments by "Mat Broomfield" (@matbroomfield) on "Is America Too Forgiving? The Case of Lance Armstrong" video.
"But Nick, I forgive you." I don't. I think doing so will lead to the decline of civilisation and our values.

@thepokkanome This is nothing to do with the free market. Separate issue. This is to do with the morality of allowing "disgraced" people to make a living in the field in which they were disgraced. Armstrong is not a cyclist and will never be again. That and the loss of his titles and prestige is the punishment. I think it's not for anyone to stand on their moral high horse, forefver denying them the right to make a living in any field adjacent to the ones they were famed for. You and I agree but for different reasons.

I'm sorry but that is a WEAKASS statement. So he did great things. Lots of thoroughly evil people had a kind side. By all means praise his cancer work, but don't raise that as a "While he was ruining the sport and the lifetime dreams of others, he was raising money for cancer" justification.

That wasn't a fraction as clever as you thought it was. Conservatives are the ones who preach traditional Biblical values and don't forgive.

"Open hearted Americans?!" Ha ha ha! Get the heck outta here! Half of you were perfectly happy with executing people at your borders and imprisoning innocent children like animals, even to the point of death! Why isn't Grant addressing the REAL dishonorable ones - the politicians? This video is like complaining about raindrops on your windshield while a tsunami is bearing down on you. Armstrong lost EVERYTHING he'd spent his life working for, in a sport where EVERYBODY did what he did, and you think that's not enough?!! I agree with 1 strike and you're out with sports cheating, but even courts recognise that people have a right for redemption. Yu think he should never work again? He' sstill one of the greatest experts in the world on cycling. The irony of this ridiculous video, is that statistically, you're both Christians. Also, what military are you talking about? The same one that routinely and systematically covers the sexual abuse of women and oppression of minorities?

That's what happens when a nation of mostly god-believing morons reduces everything to binary choices as the bible teaches.

@robertross45 Nice try. Now engage your brain and try again. This video was about MORALITY, and that is the domain of the right - primarily Christian conservatives who claim Christian values while sleeping with hookers and pool boys and murdering children at the borders. Even if it was about cancel-culture (and it isn't - it's about about the extents of moral accountability), you're STILL wrong. The left has plenty of lunatic fringe members who want to cancel, but the right just tried to cancel an entire election, and now Lindsay Graham wants to cancel Kamala for expressing support for BLM, and multiple entire states, most notably Texas, will cancel your right to employment if you so much as express support for sanctions against Israel. Yes, the left get all the press, but the right have the real power when it comes to cancel culture.

@jamesmcmann8536 I despise American Christians, and none more than Evangelicals who manage to reconcile their moronic belliefs with supporting Trump. And no, it wasn't a reach at all. There is an unequivocal correlation between American Christianity and Conservativism/right wing polics, and an unequivocal correlation between Christianity and so-called traditional values such as those espoused in the ten commandments.

@jamesmcmann8536 Religion doesn't cease to be a problem simply because no-one mentions it. Religion has an indisputable correlation with American conservatism. If you don't like that, take it up with the Christians. If you find m pointing that out, take it up with my middle finger.

@AeneasGemini Nice try. 0 for accuracy. The American right wing PRESIDENT tried to cancel the election, opposed only by a tiny handful of senators. And it was NEVER disproven that Trump did NOT have Russian aid. And now "violence in other places." Nice false equivalence. Damn those allies were SOOO violent in WW2 against the nazis. Guess both sides must be equally as bad as each other huh? If this is the quality of your "logic" just give up and go home now. 79% of American Christians lean Republican. https://harvardpolitics.com/in-god-we-trust-how-american-christianity-became-republicanism/ "So don't act like Christianity cancels anything" I never said it did. "he only religion that 'cancels' people is Islam" and Judaism right? Rather than answer your question on cancel culture, I'll point you to an article. Read it and I'll await your admission of wrongness. https://religionnews.com/2020/06/17/evangelicals-perfected-cancel-culture-now-its-coming-for-them/ I would just mention anti abortion campaigners and anti gay right campaigners active in the senate right now.

@jamesmcmann8536 Slow handclap. Your faux offence is about as convincing as Lindsay Graham and Tucker Carlson's. You're very amusing. You're not discussing good faith or you're too stupid to waste my time on. You're dismissed. We're done.

@karthikprakash5437 Yes, absolutely. Once they've been punished, and their sporting careers ruined, THAT is the punishment, not non-personing for the rest of their lives. If people don't want to listen, don't listen.
