Idiot. The people of Zimbabwe remain poor because of the corruption of the wealthy. Income disparity is growing across the planet because of the limitless greed of the rich who see the working class to be exploited in every possible way. If the rich were held to exactly the same rules as everyone else and did not have undue influence on politics and the law it would not be such a problem.

It's amusing that each of the examples you cite of "small government" resulted in the powerful forcibly stealing from everyone around them. Rome enslaved half the known world and the British empire raped and stole from it. Great for the few at the top, shit for everyone below. This is the trouble with you people of libertarian mindset, you all live in a selfish fantasy world where work is the only dividing factor between success and failure. As for your comment about stealing from the rich, nobody got rich without the legion of resources provided for them by "socialist" society. See how successful Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or the Koch brothers would have become without the roads and communication systems we all pay for, and which they use their wealth to pay less proportionally for. There can be a fine line between "stealing" from the rich and retrieving their reasonable contribution, but the wealthy now exploit their power to such a degree that that line has swung massively in their favour - they exploit the masses, destroy the planet, lower the standard of living for all but the elite, and you sit there telling me to feel sorry for them. Do me a favour.

Taking government completely out of production is a lovely utopian idea Nathaniel, but the trouble is, producers will always ALWAYS exploit the workers, the customers and destroy the environment anytime they are given the freedom to do so. The idea of living in a world where everybody plays fair and simply concerns themselves with making an honest profit is an utter fantasy that has NEVER been realistic. From the very earliest days of trade and production we see penalties for those who cheat. As corporations get larger, their ability to cheat increases, their capacity to destroy entire communities rises, and collectively they have now gained the power to destroy the entire planet. I'm sorry but I don't that sort of power left to the honour system.
