Well there's a mixture of great ideas and rank stupidity. How do you think the healthcare industry will be kept in check without government oversight?

"Oh, and private healthcare isn't driving the overpricing. Government is." Bullshit. The government is unquestionably complicit by regulating where you can buy drugs, but government is not forcing these companies to charge thousands of percent in mark ups, nor is it forcing hospitals and doctors to literally extort you at the cost of your life when you need care. The American health industry is despicable. It needs burning to the ground.

"There isn't some magical quality that makes healthcare immune to market forces." You've got to be kidding. How did market forces control aids drugs? They didn't in the US - thousands of people died needlessly. When you are holding a gun over somebody's head, market forces don't factor in. That's why price gouging is illegal. Except when it comes to pharma prices. The libertarian fantasy of self regulating markets is a pipe dream repeatedly shown not to be true.

The AIDs epidemic is most certainly NOT a triumph of the free market. 6,714 people died in America of AIDs in 2014. Only 1 in 3 American sufferers can even afford the drugs. I never claimed it was free to make drugs. If it costs a million to develop and distribute a drug, it's reasonable that the drug company recoups their million, plus a reasonable profit - whatever that is, 5 or 10 times their investment over the life of the drug. The trouble is, state sponsored protectionism plus out of control greed to satisfy shareholders means that companies are not satisfied with a reasonable profit. Remember Martin Skrelli, that maggot who bought the rare aids drug that put a 15,000% mark up on it? The drug was already developed, all he had to recover was his purchase.price. But he was a greedy worm. And he is not the outlier. He was just more blatant.
