  1. "Most of the people in charge don't know what they're doing" "We didn't know that the movie that launched our career was going to work" And there's the problem. It's YOUR arrogance John. You didn't know if your own best project would be successful, yet you deride others for not knowing either. A serious lack of self awareness. The fact is, a lot of life is NOT science with black and white, easily quantifiable answers. A lot of it is based upon opinions, judgement calls, and sometimes dumb luck. Operating in an environment where you can't just recklessly waste millions of pounds on chancy projects, being conservative is the safet option.
