It's lovely, but I don't understand why, if they both cleared it, they didn't raise the height and carry on?

@Duncan23 I know what a draw is, but from this guy's comment, the judge said "One of you will have to be silver." If they both had exactly the same achievement, then why would that be the case?

@ass640 So the event was not decided by who could jump highest then? So it was a total farce. If there was a genuine risk of injury (and it's not like they were jumping anything like continuously for that whole time), then they should have completed the next day, or after a break. And even if nobody could jump higher, their failures at lower heights are also factored in, so forcing them to continue jumping was not even needed. Either it was a literal tie - with an equal number of previous failures at the same earlier heghts, or there was a clear winner. All of that said, it's insane just how high these guys CAN jump, and accepting a draw when you could have taken a solo gold was a generous thing to do.

@mezzo2562 How incredibly bizarre that the judge would say to them "One of you has to take silver." Who would ever agree to that? It makes the gesture less impressive now.

@mezzo2562 Yeah, I can see that point of view. It drives me crazy to see soccer matches decided on penalties, so that's much the same as you are saying.
