A thoughtful piece. I think another takeaway from that tragedy is never, ever trust authority to care about your best interests. If you feel that something could be harming the health or safety of you or your family, don't wait for disinterested, corporitist, beaurocrats to take care of it - take responsibility for your own safety. If the people of Aberfan GENUINELY believed taht their children's lives were at risk, why did they continue sending them to school in that area?
