We're not. Unfortunately selfish billionaires don't care about the planet beyond their own greedy, worthless existence, and THEY are the ones driving the agenda.

@Flowerlifts111 Clmate change is a myth because the planet is heating up, exactly as climatologists predicted it would during climate change? Oookay then.

We always wanted air conditioning, but it didn't justify it. When the summers consistently require it, we'll buy it. Till then, we can live through a couple of weeks of sweltering heat.

Must be heartbreaking seeing the level of denial and stupidity and wilful political counteraction. Like knowing an avoidable meteor is on the way and nobody cares.

@Darkernorakeln China is afscistic communist state and even THEY have don efar more to help the environment than the US, limiting carbon emmisions and planting over a billion trees. It's the rampant capitalistic greed of the US that is the problem.
2
@Ash-os1dz Quite possibly but China has 4x the population, has a national policy on the environment, and is loweriing its carbon footprint. And by what metric are you measuring that? Water pollution, air pollution, use of resources, destruction of land?
2
@Ash-os1dz Ah, by that standard, China is actually 47th in per capita emmissions, with the USA 11th on the list.

@Ash-os1dz Yes, I realise that, but it's not a fair way to look at it. A country of a billion people that spans quarter of the planet is always going to look worse. The only fair way is to ask "What is the CO2 production per person in that nation?"
2
@Ash-os1dz Yup, you'll get no argument from me on that Ash!

@Ash-os1dz Scump didn't bring more jobs - they merely continued along the same trend line started by Obama. And even then, simplifying it to "more jobs" does not accurately reflect the quality of those jobs. There were more jobs that did not pay a living wage. Then he went to war with China and killed entire industries: farming, car production, even jeans manufacturing were harmed by his bombastic ineptitude. Then covid hit, and he stood with his thumb up his fat ass doing nothing whilst 6 million people lost jobs overnight. :-( As for population, naturally the countries with the most numerous populations have the greatest CO2 emmissions but one of the problems of the next century will be an INSUFFICIENT population, not too great. Populations are declining across the western world and even China is concrned who will support their elderly population in the future. It's complicated and interesting.
