Anyone stupid enough to book non-essential flights during a global pandemic gets very little sympathy from me.

And OF COURSE the airlines want to risk everyone's lives so that they can make more profit. That's why they should NEVER be consulted on anything.

@lfc6562 The reason WHY flights may be cancelled is irrelevant - the fact is, we live in an age when they ARE. Unless you think you're going to go fly your own plane?

@christophercooper2208 What they WANT and what's responsible and sensible are two different things. People rolled the dice after seeing over a year of cancelled flights, knowingly taking chances with the health of others and themselves, and their finances and holiday plans, and they lost. Why does that deserves sympathy?

@christophercooper2208 Planes have been notorious covid infection hot spots, and if you are infected, you can infect people at your holiday destination or when you return. I'd call that extremely unhealthy.

@christophercooper2208 It's not the same. Pubs and clubs do not place 500 people in a sealed tube and recycle the air for many hours on end. But yes, I absolutely would consider going to a club or theatre unhealthy and high risk at the moment. If Johnson was not so utterly spineless and concerned about political survival, he'd have locked down the country the second that it became evident Omicron was exploding, OR if Omicron is not a threat he'd have come out and said so, OR made it illegal to fly without a verified vaccine certificate and negative test in the past 3 days and forced all people entering to quarantine in a hotel for 3 days and pass a PCR test at their cost. Any of those is a reasonable compromise.
