This is why in recent surveys across the planet, the USA is considered to be the greatest threat to global peace. I have NEVER gone to sleep at night worrying about North Korea or Iran's nuclear programs, but I have spent dozen if not hundreds of hours worrying about Trump and the kind of nation that still supports him. And lest we forget, it was America that dropped not one but TWO nuclear weapons on civilian areas, and to our shame, Britain that firebombed Dresden deliberately collectively killing hundreds of thousands of non-combatants in acts of blatant terrorism. The US is backing down because the allies (and co-signatories) it has shit on and tried to bully have all pushed back and refused to abide by the sanctions that America unilaterally decided to impose. Fuck the current US government. I hope they all die miserably..

The Geneva convention, which existed before WW2 explicitly forbade the targetting of civilians. It was terrorism pure and simple. Terrorising the non combatants of the enemy to bring about political pressure. As for the fiction that Hiroshima and Nagasaki prevented far greater loss of life, Japanese supply lines were collapsing, fuel supplies dwindling and Hirohito had made overtures through the prince of Sweden to cease hostilities. As always, America, was keen to flex its muscles and test its new weaponry. Trump HAS broken numerous treaties. He's withdrawn America from the Paris accord, and has reneged on its agreement with Iran. Then to add insult to injury, it attempted to bully the co-signatories into following suit by threatenening them.The fact that America has troops across the globe has little to do with defending its allies and everything to do with maintaining buffer zones and staging posts from which it can strike out across the globe or resupply. I don't know that America's miitary actions can EVER be said to be out of altruism.

No, the only nation ever to have nukes that used them was America. The fact is, Trump is a tough-talking man-baby who only respects strength, which is EXACTLY what Tehran projected. Does anyone seriously believe that they are going to start lobbing nukes around at their neighbours when fallout doesn't respect borders. Perhaps you should be asking why Israel is the largest recipient of American aid on the planet whilst they are already a nuclear nation, already have a massive army, and by any metric are oppressing their their neighbours. The middle east is complicated and it is not for the USA, with the support of its delusional apocalypse-loving mornonic christian electorate to be picking winners and losers, especially when they have fucked up so spectacularly in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, and many of the other places thay have shoved their unwelcome attentions.
