Why does everyone expect perfect judgement from the victim, when the trained professional did not display it? Everyone always looks into the history of the victim. What about the behaviour of the police? Why was it justified to arrest a peaceful man in the first place? Why, given recent police behaviour, does everybody expect the victim to behave calmly? Especially as his worse fears were realised. Execution for the cop is not the answer, but he damned well needs to serve some time.

@S G In ANY court in the land, a single use taser that has already been used counts as "unarmed" especially when the man's back is to you and he is fleeing. He was shot because the cop was either poorly trained, angry, or lazy. Showing examples of that one time a guy did something bad is a complete red herring.

@JK-ff6zc An innocent man sleeping in his own car should NOT be arrested. Mistake number 1. Then he escalated a non violent situation. Mistake 2.Then the officer lost control of his taser. Mistake 3. Then he shot an unarmed, fleeing man in the back. Mistake 4 If that's your idea of "doing well", I'd hate to see when the police do badly! But well done for doing exactly what I complained about, and throwing in the victim's past history, none of which is relevant. The cop was not acting upon that, nor was any of it grounds for execution, and even if it WAS, he was entitled to judicial process. So the man was a nasty person in the past - he'd just served time for that. Maybe he found religion. Maybe he learned from his mistakes. Or maybe not. Completely irrelevant to what happened here. And if you don't like that his family, who just lost their father, will now get money in compensation, how about training the police better so that they don't arrest people for sleeping in their own car and then execute them when they panic. And this is the police on best behaviour!

@WildwoodCastle The man would not be fleeing had they not tried to make a false arrest. THEY were the ones to initiate the assault. "What's the difference between the police and criminals? You're allowed to defend yourself against criminals."

@WildwoodCastle If you can't figure out that the fleeing man who was shot in the back was the victim, you're not smart enough for any further conversation.

@WildwoodCastle Oh he was on drugs as well now was he? Why not pretend he was raping someone in the car too while you're at it. But nothing will ever disguise the fact that the cop shot an unarmed man in the back twice when he was fleeing THEN WENT OVER AND KICKED THE DYING MAN, THEN DENIED HIM MEDICAL ATTENTION. That's why this cop is rightly being charged with murder.

@JK-ff6zc Okay, let's grant you everything you just said, and the worst case scenario that in fact he was about to drive drunk, then penalty for that is not execution.

@JK-ff6zc A taser is not a deadly weapon. It's specifacally touted as NON deadly. But either way, once discharged, it's empty, at which point he was no longer armed. You'll get no argument from me in favour of drink drivers. But again, the penalty for drink driving is not execution.

@JK-ff6zc No, you're right. Dictionary definition it was not an execution. It was murder, which is exactly what he's been charged with. Interesting that the definition of "deadly weapon" on taser has been changed according to whose using it. It's usually the police claiming it is a "non-lethal passification tool." Of course, they keep shooting people in the chest, and holding the trigger down too long, which then turns it into a POTENTIALLY deadly weapon.

@JK-ff6zc "The officer was also severely deprived of civil rights and rights to due process." You're saying that ironically right? He's been charged and arrested, just like any other person accused of murder. He has due process in court.
