South Korean of course. I knew that. Silly mistype. :-) Millions of people commit suicide every year. It irritates me when a wealthy person does it and it becomes a nation tragedy. The real tragedy is that mental health is not treated with more seriousness for all of us.

I suspect that SHINee's international popularity is limited to Koreans, and Asiaphiles. But I accept your observations about his good work for others. All suicide is sad, but not as sad as the shit state the world is in right now.

A bit more context would have helped. Why should British people care that a singer in a north Korean pop group aimed at young teens has gone? And if we should care, what was the background here?

For not being devastated by the suicide of someone I never knew existed till a couple of days ago? Hmmm.

So anything I don't know about then ask about counts as "wilful ignorance" huh? Little girl, I've FORGOTTEN 50 times more than you will EVER know.

151,000 people die every, many of them have made a much greater contribution to the planet than this young man, and most did not end their own lives, yet virtually none make it to BBC news. I have plenty of empathy, I simply think that there are more important subjects to expend it upon and it is misplaced of the BBC to break their general reporting ban on people who commit suicide for a guy who is barely known in the UK.

Please list for me the last three people outside your country who committed suicide that you even noticed, much less mourned. You clearly have such a surplus of empathy that it should be easy for you. Or just maybe, because this person was on your radar, you feel his loss particularly acutely and think that the rest of the world should also do so. I think it's the latter and you simply like virtue signalling to strangers. Colour me unimpressed.

I was perfectly respectful. Asking WHY the story was here was not remotely unreasonable or disrespectful. I was simply trying to highlight the inconsistency of your position. But that's okay, your are plainly butt-hurt because of my wrong-think. I'll apply for some SJW approved reprogramming after the holidays, and leave you to monitoring the comments of other videos for mild opinions that you disapprove of.

Even if were the top star on British TV, I would have zero expectation that my death would be reported outside Britain, much less in a non-English speaking nation. As for mental health, of course it's really important - how has a report about the suicide of someone who could afford the very best help on the planet helped address that? Was mental health even raised as an issue?

@justynalewan Over 50% of Kpop fans are aged under 19, and 95% are under 30.

@sheen_0.0 Yes, and given that my comment was 5 years ago, it's you.
