  1. I hate that he had to do it, and from one perspective, it was massively insensitive, but from the other, he was actually trying to man up and say it to their faces. If he'd left human resources to do it, he'd have been castigated for being a coward. The greater question is, why is this the SECOND time he's had to do this? If their employment is performance based and they're not performing, then this is reasonable. If they did regular jobs, and it was HIS ineptitude, then HE'S the one that should be out on the street.
