How about not treating them like crap the other 317 days a year?

@cloudjr2600 Ahh right - two wrongs make a right huh?

@doctorpanigrahi9975 And that makes the mistreatment of elephants okay how?

@cloudjr2600 "Whatever you said makes no sense." Nah, it made perfect sense. "anthropomorphisation" - assigning human characterists to something which is not human - such as painting an elephant and treating it as sacred. Alberte was pointing out your stupidity in trying to use mistreatment of cows as a deflection for mistreatment of elephants.

@redrose8497 Another Indian snowflake. And more whataboutism. I eat ZERO animals. I'm a vegan.

@yushdeep1839 Possibly, but horses in most stables in Europe are expensive and treated with great affection. They certainly don't need stress getaways because their daily lives are so shitty. I don't think it's a great comparison.

@james-eq7cx "you people mistreated every animal on earth for the last 200 years" I haven't been alive for the last 200 years and I am not a respresentative of all the Britons that went before me.

@james-eq7cx "you people endangered all the animal species where you went.... And don't do horse riding and remember also stop breeding of dogs..." You seem to be having a problem with basic logic. I don't hold YOU personally responsible for every bad thing that happened in India over the post 3000 years. Why do you think it's reasonable to do the same to me? The problem is not breeding elephants or riding them. It's the way that they are treated. But for the record, I am 100% against breeding pedigree dogs when that breeding harms them such as bulldogs and alsatians.

@james-eq7cx I've never ridden a horse, nor gambled on one. However, I will just say that taming beasts of burden, (horses, and oxen especially) was one of key factors that enabled humanity to move beyond a subsistence existence to an agrcultural and then industrial existence. I don't know whether or not horses should be ridden. So long as they are not treated poorly, and it is not inately harmful to them, it's like them giving piggy back rides.

@cloudjr2600 It's just as well Britain never said that in WW2 huh? You're an idiot.

@doctorpanigrahi9975 Go fuck yourself.

@james-eq7cx I killed nothing, so yes, absolutely lecturing. Ethical standards evolve.

@applecutter5723 I never implied that "your" ancestors could not tame elephants. Some animals are not tameable.

@Theunknownking1234 No. Sadly, we have been culturally and biologically raised as omnivores. I would love to give up meat, but it's one area where my willpower, as well as the need for protein and convenience and money, outweigh the massive harms. Maybe one day, I will be strong enough to give it up, but either way, do you think that I should have to be perfect before I comment on imperfect things?
