  1.  @fingerscrossed2453  Lockdown didn't cause that - the facts that hospitals were filled with, or perceived to be filled with covid patients kept non covid patients away. I tell you what else permanently harms the economy; losing several percent of the people with the greatest disposable income, and the time to provide free childcare. Lockdown DID reduce transmission, unfortunately the more virulent delta variant arose and the cycle started again. Yes, lives are lost in other areas - suicides, untreated medical conditions, etc, but on balance, lockdown saves more than it costs.
