Barry George wrongfully spent 8 years in prison for a crime he was ultimately found innocent of, yet the British government fought against paying him compensation because he was deemed "not innocent enough." They won that case, which means the claims court overrode the jury court. He will forever be smeared by that statement. If you can't find him guilty and make it stick in a criminal court, then he's innocent, and if he's innocent, you robbed 8 years of his life which you owe him for. It's not a complicated equation.

@TheScouseassassin Then why didn't they? This EXACTLY the reason we use juries, not imperious opinionated judges. Due process was applied, and a jury of his peers found him innocent. It's despicable that two robed buffoons should get to smear him forever, and deny him rightful compensation.

@JamesJones-l9m It is not upon the accused to prove their innocence; it is for the accusers to prove guilt. That is the absolute fundamental basis of British justice. I don't know what technicality you are referring to, so it's hard to comment. If he was found with the weapon, and a diary detailing his plan, but he was released because of no search warrant, I agree with you. If the police lied to the court, and planted evidence, then I do not. The rules are there to protect everyone from judicial overreach.
