  1. Mike you're mistaken. Privatising the healthcare system is NOT the same as turning it into the American model - it would still be single payer. A privatised system is run by private business, but can still be regulated and its services charged to the NHS. The logic is that private business is better at running itself efficiently than the bureaucratic government systems.

  4. But public companies are bloated, bureaucratic, and inefficient. When you have a private company with a guaranteed user base of 50 million+ people, the person offering the deal holds all the cards. The company can still make fair profit and deliver to specification. But either way, this is definitely not the same as the American system of privatisation, which Mike was suggesting.
