Funny, I was thinking the exact opposite.

The more I learn about BItcoin, the less I trust it. I t really irritates me that I have to pay for some services in this currency whose exchange rate is more volatile than Zimbabwe dollars at the moment. All I wanna do is pay a damned bill not spin a roulette wheel.

Tenets. Tenants are people who reside in a rented building.

I thought his example was perfectly understandable. All you did was complicate the variables. Everyone can relate to temperature and dirt, whereas RGB values are far more esoteric.

Exactly what I thought. A rule is only a series of if statements in its own right.

Richard Smith I realise that, so if you are giving an example to laymen, why use as your reference, something even more complicated like the range of RGB values that describe a colour, when you can serve the purpose perfectly adequately using a washing machine? Dammit man, haven't you ever SEEN an episode of Star Trek Jim?! "The cross-dimensional hyper flux capacitor is causing an inverse electromagnetic reaction with the planet's magnetosphere Captain. Just like a dog wagging its tail." ;-)

Still got my Spectrum 48 downstairs - Adventure Island FTW!

My first memory in Dixoxns was Rand 1000 - Press a key!

Despicable that bugs like this are getting through in the very part of the system designed to be extra secure.

How depressing that even swimming depends upon this level of technology now. It seems a long way from the Olympic ideal. And all for what?

I object to this characterisation of evolution. Evolution is not an intelligence, nor is it aiming towards a specific point. There are numerous evolutionary traits that have been invented and reinvented (sight for instance), and characteristics that have gone "backwards" as well as forwards - the evolution of swimming for instance. This talk fails totally at every premise.
2
bubbles - "instances" you mean? It's not as though this stuff was not solved in games a decade or more ago... Sounds like you should play ESO online or Warfcraft.

So what if you were adding not just two columns, but hundreds, and the units column contained a 1 in every single case? Do you have to divide the total number to find all the binary columns that 1s must be carried too? If so, that seems extraordinarily cumbersome, and is a totally different way of operating than decimal.

Of course, the massive PC benefit that Tom didn't mention, is that the PC's open architecture enables manufacturers to create peripherals that were never intended for the machine, and that users are not restricted to the narrow upgrade path authorised by Apple. Also, that Apple's architecture apparently makes it far more virus resistant so long as it's not running windows. I'd be interested in a video about WHY that 's the case.

The first half of this explanation once he started drawing on the paper was appallingly explained. I KNEW what he was trying to explain and it still confused me.

The average person has never learned farming, and our dependence on food is far greater. We have always had specialists, and it's THEIR job to master the tools of their trade, be it computers, farming, car mechanics, or waste disposal.

MKzer0 Because the idea is that you swim as hard as you can, balancing out your stamina against the duration of the race, and the abilities of your opponents. Having a GPS on your back that tells you exactly how fast you do every millimetre of the course seems completely against the spirit of racing. I realise you don't use it IN a race, but still. It's NOTHING like the analogy you gave. A car is a tool to make your life easier. Learning how to manage your performance is all part of the skill of swimming racing.
1
MKzer0 I understand it perfectly. Rather than you having to work out how to be a better swimmer, this tracker does it for you. One more part of the skill that has been replaced by technology.
1
MKzer0 Puerile sarcasm notwithstanding, I DO get it. I just don't like it.

The future looks exciting. I don't wanna wait!

Wow, even for a retired computer nerd with absolutely nothing to do, that project was a quite breath-taking waste of time.

Different game I think. The original version was a verb noun text adventure.

And STILL IE is POS that goes it's own way. Goddamned Microsoft arrogance messingthe internet up for everyone.
1
+Qbe Root I use IE 11 and if any browser is going to fall over, fail to display a page properly, or generally be crappy to use, it is that one.

Then your computer dies and you lose everything.

I don't understand people's gloating about this befalling Intel. 95% of the planet depends upon Intel. It's not like we're all going to suddenly stop using them out of protest, and if we all do the recommended defence, our computers could lose 30% speed. It seems to me like gloating that tap water is highly toxic. Okay, and your choice is?

"Facebook know what they're doing when it comes to networking" "Someone's had a bad day at work" One person crashes the entire planet. Doesn't sound like they know what they're doing to me.
