  1. How depressing that even swimming depends upon this  level of technology now. It seems a long way from the Olympic ideal. And all for what?

  2. MKzer0 Because the idea is that you swim as hard as you can, balancing out your stamina against the duration of the race, and the abilities  of your opponents. Having a GPS on your back that tells you exactly how fast you do every millimetre of the course seems completely against the spirit of racing. I realise you don't use it IN a race, but still. It's NOTHING like the analogy you gave. A car is a tool to make your life easier. Learning how to manage your performance is all part of the skill of swimming racing.

  3. MKzer0 I understand it perfectly. Rather than you having to work out how to be a better swimmer, this tracker does it for you. One more part of the skill that has been replaced by technology.
