  1. It was NEVER a smart idea for him to testify. Even a world class intellect would be too exposed in a situation where he does not know the questions in advance. Can't stand Trump, but this is sense, not cowardice. It does remove the opportunity for him to explain himself, but given his guilt, there was nowhere for that to go.
