There's so much about this case and Gaetz to dislike, especially that he would still have a chance at senior political office afterwards, but the age of the girl is NOT something that concerns me. 17 is not a child. In most countries, she's old enough to make her own decisions. In America, even grown adults don't get to make choices about their own bodies.
