If lathe government or police wants the public to be engaged in helping deal with GENUINE global threats, then they're going to have stop diluting our attention with the continual drip drip of shit like Dog the Bounty Hunter, Stop Police Action, and other pathetic real world cop shows that drown us in the white noise of trivial law enforcement.

No, you totally missed the point. The point is not that bad guys are able to use the same tools as good guys, rather that thanks to that technology, terrorists have the unprecedented capability to harm millions of people, even though there may only be a small number of THEM engaged in the operation. His crowdsource point was pretty facile, given that few of us would recognise genome resequencing, bioweapons, or illegal radio networks, and even if we did, there's little we can do about it.

Did you even bother to watch it all the way through? It was clearly not a talk on the morality of conflict, nor even simply sacre tactics (alhough it did start that way). Rather it was about the way that technology has enabled bad guys to upsacle operations to levels never before seen, and how this needs to be countered by levels of public response on a similar scale.

That was clearly not the purpose of this talk. He was obviously advocating a new type of technology-based response (distributed intelligence networks, in which everone is participatory) to counter a new type of technological threat.

But surely, you can appreciate the VERY serious risks in doing so?
