  1. Yes, excellent point. Unfortunately, many of the planet's most powerful countries still have a legal system based upon Biblical values - uppermost amongst them is the concept of retribution. On a personal level, of course people want justice, but on a national level governments should be interested in what is most beneficial. It requires a paradigm shift in thinking. Perhaps Jason is right in saying that it is only in response to disasters that we consider such change.
