  1. Yeah, lovely nationalistic rallying speech, but far from true. Africa is solving problems that the rest of the world solved 30 years ago. If the continent wasn't so racked with tribalism, crime and vicious religion-based war and violence, it could have come along for the ride. And if this man truly thinks that Africa is the global hub of innovation, I'd like to ask him why the biggest global population of AIDS sufferers is Africa, yet all the drugs come from the USA? African mobile coms - ha ha. The only reason they need to use phones from the dark ages, is because they can't co-operate long enough to raise the standard of education and living across the country.

  3. No, he doesn't merely "highlight the finer side of Africa". He does so in contrast to the rest of the world, which he dismisses as being where innovation is NOT happening. The fact that Africans are still struggling en masse with basic needs like water, food and survival past the age of 40 tells you all you nee to know about their "finer side". The fact that they are reinventing wheels that civilised society created decades ago is not something to be proud of - Africa should be ashamed that its petty infighting has retarded the entire continent, and consigned millions to lives of pain and poverty. This video is not a celebration of African cleverness - it's a dismal reminder of their ignorance.

  4. AsifIcarebear3 It's not an unfair question to ask why an entire continent is largely 100-1000 years behind the rest of the world.

  5. ***** What has their geography got to do with anything? Innovation is not geographically dependent. If Africa's level of innovation was learning to attach a stick to a rock to make a basic tool, you wouldn't be making this case. If you DO think that it's fair enough to argue that learning how to send an SMS message constitutes innovation, then I want to make the case that every imaginative, playing child in the world who makes gun out of a stick, or a house out of a cardboard box is a hub of innovation too.
