Comments by "Mat Broomfield" (@matbroomfield) on "Jimmy Carter: Why I believe the mistreatment of women is the number one human rights abuse" video.
***** "He implies that women are more important than men" No he doesn't, but his case is based on flawed data. And women ARE treated APPALLINGLY in much of the world. Unfortunately, he conflated their plight with that of American women.

Yeah Jimmy MISinterpretation of holy texts. Sure, if you like. And what about the massive number of AMERICAN boys who are sexually mutilated? How about starting at home with the things you CAN change Jimmy - but no, because you accept that because it was mandated in your ridiculous holy book. Prosecute the customers of mutual transactions like prostitution? Why not legalise and regulate prostitution instead? Jimmy just throwing up the usual western talking points and cheapening the serious points of violence towards women in the Middle East and Africa by their association with his more questionable "facts". I trust Carter's good intentions, and equality for all is an unquestionably laudible goal, but his narrative is deeply flawed.

Smexi Jebus Nothing kneejkerk about it. Carter's intentions are good but his facts are nonsense.

KilluaXIII I think Carter was actually one of the better ones. Boring, but he didn't make the world a worse place.

***** His statements about FGM do not DIMINISH the importance of MGM, any more than a discussion about earthquakes says that tornados are less important. However, his comments are one sided, but then this is a discussion about female issues. I agree with your comments about prostitution and Sweden 100%. Sweden has become a nauseating beacon of fascistically imposed political correctness. Of all the countries in Europe, it is the one that I'd be the most disgusted to live in. Although my own Britain is rapidly going down the civil rights toilet.

chuckn2x I can certainly off two off the top of my head. It is not MISinterpretation of holy books that leads Christians and Muslims to behave towards women - it is literal interpretation. The pay gap has now been utterly disproven, as has the claim that 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 college women is raped.

Smexi Jebus I don't trust upload times. I have many times seen videos with comments explicitly addressing points at 10 or 20 minutes in, seemingly seconds after upload.

chuckn2x That's also a good point.

Smexi Jebus "I support those who are open to discussion and wish to dispel ignorance through intellectual discourse." Then you and I are in complete agreement then.

GrumpyTortoise You ask a good question, and I don't know the answer. :-) The definition of sexual assault is clearly so broad that in some places, looking at a woman or talking to her the wrong way is considered assault.
