  1. Yes, very much so. But as Vikram shows - there's a desperate shortage of trained people because mental healthcare is not prioritised in the 3rd world.

  2. I like the fact that Vikram is advocating assistance from ley people. I get pissed off with society's view nowadays that only professionals with a degree and ten years of training can help anybody.

  3. You know you may be right, but ley help is better than no help. And not every person with mental illness is ultra-fragile. Perhaps professionals can do more to help, but if the quality of mental healthcare in my own country (UK) is anything to go by; by and large the standard of professional care is pretty cruddy.

  5. Good point, but by education, do we mean a formal degree and four years of generalised training at a specialist university, or do we mean, as Vikram is demonstrating, a little amount of custom coaching to accomplish specific goals?

  6. Yes, my respect for university professors has never been all that high - too separated from the real world - and recently, personal experience has caused my respect to plummet to an all-time low.
