So what you're saying is, even though the game is utterly rigged in the first place, we should play the game to give the illusion that the game is worth playing? Hmmm. I think revolution is more constructive now.

kant Yes, I understand that, but the problem is, increasing the number of voters alone is enough. The system itself is rigged to the core. The voting caucuses have all been changed to favour the Republicans, people with money get to "educate" the public, and the public are not sufficiently well versed on the issues. More voters will NOT fix the problem, but I guess it would be a start. Assuming the Republicans even allow those who oppose them to vote and be counted, which is increasingly dubious.

Ex0dus111 I suspect that you are overgeneralising, although your point is well made. You're right that the public are nominally well fed, but at the bottom end of the pay scale that is NOT the case. If you have to work two jobs to pay the bills, then you are NOT a happy person. And to return to your examples, you only have to look at Ferguson or the LA riots, both of which were caused by overreach by the state, to realise that parts of society live on a knife edge, with revolution never as far away as you would like to think. Racial and religious oppression are just two of the causes that are endemic in American society.

Ex0dus111 What percentage of the French population rioted during their revolution? What percentage of Americans during their Revolution? Most people cannot afford the resources of time or money to take militant action. You're right - white middle class families may well have a them and us mentality, but there are huge swathes of America that are not primarily populated by WASPs. The authorities shit themselves over Ferguson, to say nothing of the LA riots. Even that one idiot rancher kept them to a standstill. I think that you hold the standards for civil unrest way too high, and underrate the possibility of localised action spreading too low. Hell, TYT's wolfpac is PREDICATED upon the belief that an idea can be contagious.
