I would hardly say Kimberley spent decades constructing a false identity. She made a few changes in her early adult life and simply lived as that new person. Unless the letters specifically say the weight of that life was why she killed herself, I'd say it was equally likely she killed herself because of her failed relationships, or because of loneliness.

@francisgoin3112 You act as though she spent every day weaving a complex false narrative. She did not. She created an alter ego early on, which consisted of nothing but a name, and simply refused to discuss her past, as was her right. If anything, it was other people's constant prying that was the problem.

@marhawkman303 What IS yourself? It's not your history or your relatives, or at least that is not the majority for most adults. Yes, we have been shaped by our childhood, and that leaves an indelible trace on you, but the vast majority of what makes you you, is the life you live now.

The mystery of who she was, and why she changed her identity were revealed. Not every mystery can have an exciting action ending. I thought it was just sad.
