  10. There are a million problems with Rio and Brazil in general. The fact that it's picturesque is not remotely enough to compensate for its glaring flaws.

  12. Brazil has always had a major drug and major gang violence problem. The country was decimated by hyper inflation, and even if it may not have been so bad in 2009, its recent track record of instability should have been warning enough.
