You make it sound like they CHOSE to be stupid. And even though eucalyptus leaves may low on nutrients, it enables them to occupy a niche in the food ecosystem with no competition, so perhaps evolution was not so stupid huh?

Absolutely not. Most life on this planet is totally lacking intelligence, yet it survives just fine. There are many strategies to biological success. Intelligence is way down that list.

Animals don't choose their biological niche - they evolve into them. There are millions of animals that occupy niches that no rational creature would desire.

Heredity is not a choice. You clearly don't understand the way that natural selection works.

Which is probably why they spend a lot of their time in trees. They actually have very few predators.

None of those are signs of intelligence, only natural selection at play. Arguably, the first one is not a factor because other animals eat cute things all the time: baby rabbits, baby deer, etc. And the second one is CLEARLY not an evolutionary factor because they have existed for 50 million years and Australia has been inhabited by pet owning humans 60,000 years max.

Ah, I wasn't aware koalas were native in the USA.
