  4.  @meganod279  There's a difference between desiring peer group acceptance and peer group adulation, but that wasn't really what I was referring to in any case. I was talking more about the way that the media fosters voyeurism. Most people are not voyeuristic - or at least, they suppress that instinct for the harmony of society. But the media actively encourages and feed that worst part of our nature with endless so-called reality TV shows, and invasive news articles.

  6.  @meganod279  People are drawn to low effort, lowest common denominator entertainment. The media caters to it. As you say, it's dumbing everyone down.
