@eritchie5 Completely nonsensical gobbledygook. That PROMISE is attached to actual labour, and tangible assets or food or goods in return. In the wake of a 400 billion pound covid deficit, British people will already be giving more of their labour to the state for free - and it's even worse for people who got little or no relief over the past year. We'll all be paying more for goods, and the poor will be poorer. Money may be a renewable resource, but that renewal does not simply occur without input, and they have a right not to provide our labour to those who provide nothing of value to the system. Taking your analogy, it would be an ant colony that constantly gives away its resources to other colonies, to the detriment of their own colony. So what do we get from aiding Yemen - a pat on the head? A thumbs up from OPEC? Yemen incidentally, is a country whose genocide I might add, we have enabled by selling arms to their oppressors the Saudis. The best thing we could do to help them is take a moral stance against Saudi Arabia.

@eritchie5 I don't disagree with anything you just said, although I think it's all wildly aspirational and will NEVER happen. The very thing that raised humans to the top of the evolutionary ladder (intelligence and competitiveness), is also the same thing that ensures that a small handful of parasites manipulate the rest of us to constantly acquire more than their share at any expense. Until we destroy these parsites, we'll never evolve.

@eritchie5 I'd love to live in a star trek future (pre Picard), but greed and a lust for power have been constants throughout human civilisation. They won't give them up easily, and it's easier now than ever for them to manipulate us.
