DeSantis is playing it EXACTLY right. As the number 2, he's perfectly positioned given that Trump will quite possibly be facing charges or even disqualified by 2024. If he attacks Trump or even declares now, he'll alienate himself with hardline Trump supporters, who could go elsewhere if they see taht and Trump cannot stand. Meanwhile, Trump offers a DEEP well of material to attack if it ever comes to a head to head in a year. If on the other hand, Trump is still standing then, DeSantis can simply fade away, and try to stop his own shitty state from sinking into a political swamp.
