It's easy to reinterpret everything into a narrative of hate after the fact. I didn't think his carpool karaokes were bad or insincere. The one with Paul McCartney made me laugh with joy when they put on the concert in the pub. Corden was really sailing high just before covid, but lockdown broke him. He thrived on adulation, and 1 year without it really harmed his mental health (although paradoxically it did wonders for the band, who were always the real stars). When he returned, everything had to be about him all the time, and he lost that charm and silliness that attracted me to the show. The spat with Patrick was low, but there WERE two sides to that. I was more surprised that Patrick stopped to that level. James had a moment, but like Elon, his ego and his desire to be adored got the better of him. I don't know about quitting the late late show to be with his family - he said it was because he wanted to explore greater opportunities. How's that worked out James? Destroyed dozen of careers for what?!
