  1. You're not paying extra for something you already paid for. There are various models. You paid for the lesser model. For a fee, you get access to the features that turn it into the superior model, just as you could be driving to their garage and having them install those features; just as you might if you get your car race tuned. Whether the additional features need to inconveniently be installed later if you want them, or can simply be activated by software, the end result is the same. This is MORE convenient. It's consumer choice. How hard is that to comprehend? Your distaste for product tiers is a you problem. Come on Louis, you're an important advocate for consumer rights, but when you go off on fair business practices, you weaken your own credibility, and you are too valuable to do that.
