Skepticism baffles you? Wow.
I was told that homeopathy was a thing, it' seen supported by the queen of England. Reiki, Chiropracty, natural medicine, rhino horns, elephant tusks, - need I go on?
Skepticism should surely be the default position of an experienced mind.As for cherry picking - well I certainly didn't read all 3000+ studies, nor even the full conclusion. When the concluding line says that acupuncture is likely little more than a placebo, then that pretty much trumps everything else.
Frankly, I am sick to death of new agers being taken seriously at the expense of genuine medicine, leeching money from an already stretched health service simply because people seem to think that it's rude to question snake oil salesmen. On a personal level, I HAVE permitted supposed experts to use acupressure on me, with no result, and whilst I realise that's not exactly the same, the root belief in meridians and specific focal points is closely interconnected.
