  1. I would think that the definition of "child" was the absolute baseline that was needed in a discussion about age of consent? Any arbitrary line does a disservice to the many many outliers. Why 18? Why not 21? Why not 16? The fact that western countries have no universal figure demonstrates that it's just opinion, and using a physical metric such as the completion of puberty makes far more sense.
