  1. Steve is it possible that you are making a class error. An idea and a physical thing are two very different beasts. Refuting one would not necessarily refute the other. You started by saying "We must define our terms", yet one term that was not defined was "whatever". Perhaps the Kalam refers to physical matter? Also, 1+1=2 That CONCEPT began to exist when it was conceptualised by someone, but the FACT of that statement existed indepententally of a mind to conceptualise it. Even if there was no universe, 1+1 would still equal 2. When did that fact begin to exist and what caused it? Also, your sword example was flat out wrong. The sword didn't begin to exist prior to its conceptualisation. Non sword matter existed. Until that was designated as being future sword stuff, it was something else.
